Movie - Lovely Bones

1.      1. Synopsis:  Susie Salmon is a 14 year old girl that was murdered & raped by her trusted neighbor Mr. Harvey. Mr. Harvey was very well trusted by her parents and was least expected as the killer. Susie now watches from heaven as her family deals with her murder. Her dad is determined to find the killer. He suspects that the person that killed Susie is Mr. Harvey but the mom disagrees. This leaves conflict in the movie as the dad tries to figure out his daughter’s killer.

2.This movie has many layers as it shows you different perspectives of each character.

The first layer is the outside, the way it looks to the human eye; a typical neighbor that you can trust. Mr. Harvey is very well trusted by Susie’s family. A few conversations with him here and there and suddenly they can trust him. Anyone can look innocent on the outside but you don’t know who they are on the inside. This leads us to our second layer. Mr. Harvey is a lying killer. He is the least suspected because his plan is to play the role of the typical friendly neighbor. You never know who is bad and who isn’t. No one shows their true colors. For Susie’s mom, he is the last person you would suspect. Just another ordinary guy that would never do harm to a child.

This shows darkness, because you never know who you can really trust. This man killed a young girl and raped her. But he will never be a suspect because he is very sneaky and makes sure that he keeps the role of an innocent, ordinary man. Behind his face, is a much deeper, darker side to him.

3.      3. I can relate to the Lovely Bones because I’m always out walking around. I never know who I can and can’t trust. There are many serial killers out there that are least suspected. Just by putting on a nice face, anyone can gain your trust. This scares me for when I go out but you just have to keep your guards up.

4.What do we mean by evil?

When you go out of your way to harm someone or something that doesn’t deserve it is evil. Someone with darkness behind them, and bad morals is an evil person. Mr. Harvey was an evil man because he raped and killed a young girl and got away with it as the innocent person. He knew he was doing something wrong because he was covering up his actions. People that do this are evil & have bad intentions.
