3rd Blog - The lovely Bones

As we read more through The Lovely Bones, we start to analyze and see more of each character's perspective. We saw a little more of Ruth's side, and her connection to Susie Salmon, and Ray Singh. We noticed that Ruth had a deep connection with Susie and that she had feelings for her. We discussed that those may be the reasons why Susie fantasizes about both Ruth and Ray together, because those are her people that she shared a deep connection with in the past.
We discussed further into perspective and really went for each meaning behind every word said in these few chapters. We were thinking that since Ray was Susie's first "crush" that he left a strong mark in her life, and which is why she wont let go. Although he was a small part of her life, he left a big mark.
We all understood how Susie felt, because we've all had a "crush" before and understand how Susie feels when she thinks of Ray.

2nd blog - The Lovely Bones

Are there times when it is okay to kill?
After reading and seeing how its like through the eyes of Susie Salmon, you understand more the pain of what she feels. We discussed the pain, for Susie to watch over her family as they were destroyed by the death of their daughter. She watches over them, knowing her killer is still out there, trying to help her family solve her murder, in the least way possible.
It is never okay to kill. You may think someone deserves death, no matter how much harm they did, but two wrongs dont make a right. There will always be consequences but never will it ever result in murder. I think that no one life deserves to be taken away. Thats not a way to "teach someone a lesson" , that is a result of revenge.
Mr.Harvey is a bad man, with bad morals, and what he did to Susie is unforgivable, but killing him wont bring Susie back to life.

You are on the right track. Now try and add a few more details as modeled in class. What does this remind you of and why, bring in text support and how do you see yourself growing through discussions.

1st Blog - Lovely Bones

This week we read up to chapter 4.
We discussed Susie's death. She was easily pulled in by Mr.harvey because she trusts him. To her, he is the last person that would ever harm her or even kill her. We discussed the value of trust. When you really trust someone, you see them as a good person and you respect them. Susie respected Mr. Harvey as a person and as a neighbour. The thought of her going into his basement was odd for her, but at the same time she didnt expect the worse in him. The last thing on her mind was to get murdered by her own well trusted neighbour.
Her family went through a tough time after hearing about their daughters death, knowing that the killer is still out there. Her killer being their neighbour, is an even worse thought.
We discussed how innocent Susie is, and how she didnt know any better. She was naive and believed that he wasnt harmful. Placing her trust straight into the palm of his hands. Leaving him to take advantage of that, and murdering Susie Salmon.
A few questions we discussed was whether Mr.Harvey was going to be caught by the police or not? If her parents will realise that hes not so innocent.
